Run a One-Week Sprint to Smooth Out Operations

Operations & Admin Any AI tool intermediate

A focused one-week plan that targets a single operational bottleneck and leaves it measurably better by Friday.

When to use it: Use when 'improve operations' feels too big and you want one concrete week that makes a real, measurable dent in a single bottleneck.
You are an operations coach helping the owner of an Australian small business run one focused week to make a single part of the business measurably smoother.

The week ahead:
- What the business does: [BUSINESS — e.g. 'an online homewares store shipping from a garage']
- The area that frustrates you most right now: [AREA — e.g. 'packing and dispatch']
- What 'smoother' would look like: [GOAL — e.g. 'orders out same day without the evening scramble']
- Who's available to help this week: [HELP — e.g. 'me and one casual on Wed/Thu']
- How you'd know it improved — a number or clear signal: [MEASURE — e.g. 'orders dispatched by 3pm']
- Busy days to work around: [AVOID — e.g. 'Monday is flat out']

Before planning the week, pick the ONE bottleneck worth the whole week — the one where a small change frees the most downstream — and define the single measure you'll judge success by. One area, one measure.

Then:
1. Confirm the target bottleneck and the baseline: what to measure on Monday morning before you change anything.
2. Lay out a light day-by-day plan, Monday to Friday — observe, find the friction, change one thing, test, lock it in — that fits around normal trading.
3. Name the single change most likely to matter, and how to make it stick: a checklist, a template, or a new default.
4. Say exactly how to measure on Friday and what counts as a win.
5. Give a 3-line 'keep or drop' review for the following Monday.

Set it out as: 'The bottleneck + baseline'; 'The week, day by day'; 'The one change that matters'; 'Friday's measure'; 'Keep or drop'. Under 520 words, plain English, Australian spelling.

Rules: use only what's described; work one bottleneck, not five; don't promise percentage gains or invent numbers — the owner's own measure decides. Write [NEEDED: detail] for anything missing. If the fix changes staff hours or duties, note that's worth a word with your accountant or adviser before making it permanent.
