Job Ad That Doesn't Sound Like Every Job Ad
Write a job ad in your voice that filters for the person you actually need
When to use it: Use when hiring for a small team where one wrong hire really hurts
Write a job ad for my small Australian business.
ROLE: [TITLE]. The actual job (what they'll do most days): [BE SPECIFIC]. Pay range: [$X–$Y + super]. Location: [SUBURB / hybrid / remote AU].
THE PERSON WHO'LL THRIVE: [E.G. loves systems, calm with grumpy customers]. The person who'll hate it: [BE HONEST].
MY BUSINESS IN ONE PARAGRAPH: [PASTE]
Rules:
1. Open with the most interesting true thing about the job — not "About us".
2. Include the "you'll hate this job if…" section — it's the best filter we have.
3. Real pay range stated plainly (ads with ranges get better applicants).
4. Application ask: one short question that reveals how they think, not a cover letter.
5. Plain English, no "rockstar/ninja/fast-paced environment", under 400 words.
Also give me: where to post it locally ([REGION] groups, Seek vs Indeed vs word-of-mouth) as bullet suggestions I can verify.
