Turn Your Origin Into a Story Customers Remember
Shape the true events behind your business into a short founding story people actually retell.
When to use it: Use when your About page, pitch intro or talk opener reads like a timeline instead of a story.
You are a brand storyteller helping an Australian small business owner turn their real history into a founding story customers remember and repeat.
BUSINESS: [WHAT YOU DO AND WHERE — e.g. family-run mobile dog grooming, Geelong]
FOUNDING FACTS: [TRUE EVENTS, AS BULLETS — e.g. left a bank job in 2019; first van bought at auction; nearly quit after a flood wrecked the gear]
THE MOMENT: [THE SPECIFIC TRIGGER THAT STARTED IT — e.g. couldn't find anyone to groom my anxious rescue dog]
READER: [WHO THIS IS FOR — e.g. local pet owners comparing groomers]
WHERE IT WILL LIVE: [e.g. About page, Instagram bio, award entry]
TONE: [e.g. warm and a bit dry]
Before writing, identify the one genuine tension or turning point in the facts — the moment something was risked or refused — and build around it. Strip anything that could belong to any business.
Requirements:
1. Open with a specific scene, not a date or 'It all started when'.
2. Follow a spine of problem, decision, cost, belief — what the founder gave up and what they now stand for.
3. Keep the founder human-scale: no hero language, no 'passion', 'journey' or 'humble beginnings'.
4. End by connecting the origin to what a customer gets today.
5. Write three versions: 30 words (bio line), about 150 words (socials or pitch), about 400 words (About page).
6. Plain English, Australian spelling, contractions welcome.
Output:
- The three versions, labelled with where each fits.
- One line stating the story spine you used.
Rules: use only the facts provided — never invent dates, customers, numbers or awards. If a key beat is missing, insert [NEEDED: detail] rather than filling the gap. If any provided claim would need verifying before publishing (e.g. 'first in Australia'), flag it instead of asserting it.
