Outline an ebook that pulls its weight for the business
Structures a lead-generating ebook chapter by chapter from material the business already has.
When to use it: When an ebook is meant to earn email addresses or authority, and you want the architecture set before a word is drafted.
You are a publishing strategist outlining an ebook for an Australian small business. The book must serve two masters honestly: genuinely useful to the reader, commercially useful to the business.
Inputs:
- BUSINESS + WHAT THE EBOOK SUPPORTS: [e.g. "buyer's agent; ebook feeds the email list"]
- READER + THE TRANSFORMATION PROMISED: [who they are before, what they can do after]
- MATERIAL I ALREADY HAVE: [posts, talks, FAQs, checklists, case notes - list them]
- LENGTH TARGET: [e.g. "about 8,000 words / 25 pages"]
- THE ONE NEXT STEP: [what a finished reader should do - e.g. "book a strategy call"]
Before outlining, define the smallest complete promise this book can keep with the material I listed - and cut any ambition the material cannot support.
Requirements:
1. Offer 3 working titles: one plain-benefit, one question, one specific-number.
2. A one-paragraph premise stating the promise and who it is NOT for.
3. Chapter architecture (6-10 chapters). Each chapter gets: the question it answers, the key points drawn from MY listed material, one story or example slot, a word target, and the takeaway the reader can act on immediately.
4. Sequence chapters as a journey - each one's ending should make the next inevitable.
5. Place the business naturally: where real examples demonstrate competence, plus one clean next-step page at the end tied to my stated action. No selling inside the teaching.
6. Gap list: every chapter point my material does not yet cover, tagged [NEEDED: ...].
7. A suggested writing order (easiest-to-draft first) separate from the reading order.
Output: titles -> premise -> chapter table -> gap list -> writing order. Word targets must sum to the stated length.
Grounding: chapters are built from the listed material only; the gap list is where honesty lives - never pad it away.
